While in law school, Josh won the Washington University Golden Gavel Award, the school’s prestigious prize for the best orator in moot court. He was also a Notes and Comments Editor on the Washington University Law Quarterly.

Josh began his practice of law as a judicial clerk for Judge Harold Lowenstein at the Missouri Court of Appeals in Kansas City, and then he clerked for the then-Chief Judge of the United States District Court in St. Louis – Judge Edward Filippine. Following his clerkships, he began litigating at Posternak, Blankstein & Lund in Boston, where he was very near his four siblings and their families. Disgust with the Red Sox and a fiancée at Washington University School of Law brought him back to St. Louis, where he enjoyed a vibrant litigation practice and eventually partnership, for twelve years at Rosenblum, Goldenhersh, Silverstein and Zafft.
